Shirley Jean (Ruble) and Clyde Howell Jr. of Bloomfield celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on June 16. They were married June 16, 1964, by Minister J.V.A. Traylor, pastor of the Woodsfield Church of Christ. They were married at the minister’s home.

He has always made a living for his family working outdoors. He enjoys telling his children and grandchildren about being a member of the ironworker’s team that constructed several miles of the interstate overpasses between Caldwell and Cambridge. He was also a township operator for nearly 30 years. He has had many self-employed ventures, from working on vehicles and tractors, to logging, to supplying hay to several area farms. In more recent years, he has been a Ludlow Township Trustee.

She has been a homemaker for their past 50 years of marriage which has also included running tractors, driving trucks, helping out at school, making necessary parts store runs, balancing the books and babysitting for neighboring families.

They are the parents of three sons, Craig Howell, Kevin Howell and Jeff Howell, who all reside locally. They have six grandchildren and several other children that look to them as their grandparents.

On June 15 their three sons hosted a party to commemorate their golden anniversary. Many family members and friends celebrated with the couple.
