70th: Warren and Faye Brookover
Warren Cline and Faye Rosetta (McCain) Brookover celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Feb. 16.
The couple were married at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, 1947, at First Baptist Church in Marietta. The Rev. A. M. Bailey officiated the double-ring ceremony. The late Carl Rose, stepfather of the bride, gave her in marriage. Mrs. Brookover is the daughter of the late Bessie Rose and Pearl McCain and Brookover is the son of the late Luther and Lola Brookover of Williamstown.
Before the wedding service, Pauline Neal, organist, played “Indian Love Call” by Friml, “Venetian Love Song” by Nevin and “Ave Maria” by Schubert. Winifred Finkel sang “Always” by Berlin and “Oh Promise Me” by DeKoven.
Maid of honor was Betty Rose and best man was Kenneth Treadway, cousin of the bride.
Mrs. Brookover wore a gown of white satin fashioned with net skirt and long train. The sleeves of the gown were long and pointed and the fingertip veil fell from a crown of white rosebuds. She carried a bouquet of white rosebuds with satin streamers.
After the wedding, a reception was held in the church parlors. Here, a large table was covered with a lace cloth and was centered with a four-tiered wedding cake.
Mrs. Brookover attended Marietta High School and Brookover attended school in Williamstown.
Cards would be appreciated and can be sent to their residence on Sandhill Road, Marietta.
