William “Bill” Franklin Ward and Anna Marie Ward will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary.

The couple was married May 14, 1955 at The First Nazarene Church of Marietta with Reverend Ireland officiating. The couple had their wedding reception in the Judge Barker house which was the home of Anna’s parents on Route 7, Newport.

Mrs. Ward is the daughter of the late Paul and Anna Hensler and Mr. Ward is the son of the late James and Ellen Ward. Bill grew up at Strasburg, Ohio. He loved fishing and hunting. He worked at the Nickel Plate Railroad, the MarBon chemical plant and the American Cyana Mid. He now fixes fishing rods and reels as a hobby. Anna is a homemaker. She took nursing school, quilted, made rugs, gardened and in the later years had a fish and bait store that also sold produce.

The couple has five children, William (Judy) Ward, Robert Ward, Michael (Regenia) Ward, Richard (Roberta) Ward, all of Marietta, and a daughter, Julie (Bill) Cain of Jackson, Ohio.
