James R. and Dianne Crandall of Marietta announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Margaret Elizabeth to Lucas Clayton Hill of Central Point, Ore., the son of Michael T. and Kris Hill.

The bride-to-be graduated from Marietta High School in 1996. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University with minors in plant biology, geography and environmental studies in 2000. She earned her master’s degree in teaching from Willamette University in 2012. She is a licensed teacher endorsed in science and social studies and works as a substitute.

The prospective bridegroom graduated from Crater High School in 1992. He earned his bachelor’s degree in theater with a minor in art from Willamette University in 1996, and earned his master’s degree in education from University of Oregon in 2002. He is a licensed teacher endorsed in theater and language arts and works as a substitute.

The marriage ceremony will be held at 11:45 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the gazebo in Sacra Via Park at Second Street and Sacra Via, Marietta. The custom of open ceremony will be observed.

They reside in Salem, Ore.
