Home Builders sponsor weekend’s home show

From staff reports

The 2017 Great American Home Show will offer vendors and potential customers a chance to display, discuss and consider a variety of local options for local homeowners and customers.

Organized by the Home Builders Association of the Mid-Ohio Valley, this year’s event will be held at the National Guard Armory on Blizzard Drive in south Parkersburg from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The 2017 Great American Home Show is sponsored by Wincore Windows & Doors and Wayne Homes. The event is open to the public and admission is $3 for adults and free for children.

The home show generally features builders, remodelers, landscapers, heating-and-cooling experts, kitchen-and-bath specialists, foundation repair, patio builders, pavement companies, carpet services, energy-efficient windows and doors, home security, home design, fencing, insulation products, satellite television and lawn and garden equipment. The Great American Home Show has been an annual event in the area for more than 30 years and remains popular with local residents. Attendance for the weekend usually runs between 3,500 and 4,000 people.

This year’s event will feature a live auction at 3 p.m. Sunday. Three Wincore Window and Door packages with a value of $5,000 each will be auctioned off by Fouss Auction and Appraisal, along with some other items.

Trish McKay had previously served as executive director of the HBAMOV.

This year’s home show will have about 45 to 50 vendors. McKay said all of the available exhibit space sold out by the second week of January.
