Children’s theater doing 2 shows of ‘Peter and Wendy’ at the Smoot

From staff reports

Area children are working and rehearsing each evening this week to learn dialogue and scenes as they prepare to put on a play Saturday at the Smoot Theatre in downtown Parkersburg.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre program has returned to the Smoot Theatre, giving local children a chance to learn and experience live theater, said Smoot director Felice Jorgeson.

“Peter and Wendy” will be presented at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Smoot. Tickets may be purchased online at smoottheatre.com or by calling 304-422-PLAY. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.

A total of 65 students from kindergarten through 12th grade were chosen Monday during an audition for the MCT program. They began rehearsing Tuesday to put on the play with the help of directors, costumes and props provided by MCT. The rehearsal sessions are being held from about 4 to 8 p.m. daily, split between two groups of children in two-hour sessions.

Missoula Children’s Theatre is the nation’s largest touring children’s theater and visits more than 1,000 communities each year with teams of tour actor-directors. A tour team featuring MCT staffers arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and makeup–everything it takes to put on a play except the cast. MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairy tales.

This week’s cast and crew features children from Wood and Washington counties including: Natalie Alvarez-Domingues, Chloe Barnhouse, Bell Bergum, Grace Boone, Reese Boone, Ryace Boyer, Caleb Brown, Addie Brown, Andrew Brown, Lilly Burrell, Lakyn Campbell, Erin Carmicle, Lucy Cartwright, Braley Cottrill, Katie Daley, Emma Daley, Mya Daugherty, Zoe Daugherty, Aiden Day, Ella Day, James D’Eramo, Sophie D’Eramo, Alexandra DeShetler, Jordan Edwards, Regan Freed, Madison Givens, Hannah Greathouse, Haylin Irvin, Alexander Johnson, Aidan Klinger, Elaina Koskey, Zoe Koskey, Matthew Lebo, Aliva Lough, Alex Marshall, Christian Marshall, Joshua McClung, Lauren Modesitt, Amylia Myers, Lucas Oden, Allison Poole, Meredith Poole, Rachael Puls, Asia Richards, Asa Richards, Kirsten Riesbeck, Athena Root, Jenna Sams, Jason Skidmore, Taylor Starkey, Lily Sundstrom, Josie Swaney, Libby Swaney, Ashlynn Taylor, Nathan Tennant, Nathan Thorton, Matthew Thorton, Izabella Trefz, Kieia Trembly, Clare Walker, Kalianna Washington, Mallory Westfall, Ella Wilson, Kaleb Windland and Emma Withrow.
