Bikers for Christ to host Belpre bike show

A new event has been added to this year’s Belpre Homecoming Festival in early August.

Belpre Homecoming coordinator Lyndsay Dennis said the new event will debut from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 2 on the event grounds at Civitan Park.

Bikers for Christ Bike Show, the first bike show on the grounds of Belpre’s Civitan Park, will be hosted by the Bikers for Christ Southeast Ohio Chapter. The show is free and open to the public, beginning at 6 p.m.

Pre-registration is $10 per bike or $15 at the tent. Judging is from 6 to 8 p.m. A first place award will be presented in each category. For more information, call Dennis at 740-860-9876 or email comehometobelpre@gmail.com. Registration forms are available at belprechamber.com/homecoming

Bikers for Christ Motorcycle Ministry was founded in 1995, with many chapters throughout the world and nine chapters in Ohio alone.

According to Dan Carpenter, elder of the club, it is a small chapter.

“We are blessed and willing to be given this opportunity to bring many area bikers, RCs and MCs together in one place to show off our rides. We have so many beautiful bikes in this area and so many great motorcycle organizations and members. Our show will award many different makes of motorcycles. From Rat bike to custom to vintage and we will also have a best of show award,” he said.

Carpenter said the judging will be left to those who will be attending the show and want to vote on their favorite bikes.

“My wife and I have been Belpre residents for more than 35 years. We raised two girls here and now have grandchildren who will be attending schools and sports here also. Belpre Homecoming has been a part of our lives for many many years, and to be able to be a part of the festivities is very exciting for us,” he said. “To be a part of the festivities as members of our motorcycle ministry makes it even more exciting.”

The chapter will also sponsor the first Bikers for Christ, Southeast Chapter Scripture Benefit Run on Aug. 11. The event will benefit “Vets for Full Representation” at Veterans Crossing located at the intersection of Ohio Route 555 and County Road 3 in Little Hocking.

“We will have breakfast at the beginning, ending with music (by Premier Productions), food, silent auction, country store, 50/50 drawing, door prizes and of course more food at the finish of the run. Special thanks to all of our supporters, volunteers and the businesses and churches providing the places for our stops,” Carpenter said.
