MOV Ballet to perform ‘Little Women’ at MHS

The Mid-Ohio Valley Ballet Company will present a new original ballet “Little Women” on Friday at Marietta High School Auditorium.

The performance will be presented at 7 p.m. Reserved seat tickets for the ballet are $15 for adults and $8 for children under 18 and senior citizens.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 304-422-5538. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the performance, box office choice only.

The ballet is based on the classic story by Louisa Mae Alcott with new original choreography by Suzy Gunter who will also dance the role of Aunt March. She will be joined by Company members Edie Tidd as Meg, Eliza Siefert as Jo, Anna Menarchek as Amy, Grace Sears as Beth and Owen Tidd as next door neighbor Laurie.

Jolene Troisi will portray Marmee and they will be joined by guest artist Danny Bayer as Mr. Lawrence. Additional cast members include Catherine Hudson, Claire Hudson, Daisy Lawrence, Sarah Woofter, Sarah Thomas, Bella Smith, Alia Ott, Liam Tidd and Kane Smith.

Fifty-two trainees and students from the MOV Ballet Academy of Fine Arts, the official school of the MOV Ballet, will round out the cast.

MOVB is a professional, nonprofit dance group that performs more than 30 concerts, lecture demonstrations and Arts in Education performances annually. MOVB has toured extensively throughout West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Ohio since 1983 presenting specially produced one-hour versions of the current ballet through the School Days Performing Arts Series. This special arts in education program has allowed more than 30,000 public school children to see a live arts performance who may otherwise never have the opportunity.
