Rowing Tour will be Sunday
The Marietta Rowing & Cycling Club recently announced that this year’s Muskingum River Paddling/Rowing Tour will take place on Sunday, Oct. 2. This annual event will involve paddling/rowing from Lowell to Marietta on that day and all participants should meet at Lock 3 in Lowell in time for a 9 a.m. launch and departure. Any and all human powered vessels are welcome to enjoy this day on the river. So, bring your kayak, row boat, canoe, or rowing shell.
The purpose of this event is to promote paddling and rowing on the Muskingum River, and to give folks a chance to meet others who enjoy these sports. This trip also involves locking through at Lock 2 in Devola where you will be charged $5 per vessel for this service. Details for this event are listed below:
Departure: 9 a.m. launch from the beaches near the lock (#3) at Lowell
1st Way Point: Lock at Devola (#2) – Rest and Refreshments (Bring your own). Participants will lock through for a fee of $5 per vessel.
2nd Way Point: Marietta at the Marietta College or High School Docks
Distance Traveled: 14.2 miles from Lowell to Marietta
Price: – No charge to participate
Vessels: Bring your own Canoe, Kayak, Row Boat, or Rowing Shell
Safety: PFD should be worn by all participants. You will need protective footwear at the put-in plus it would be a good idea to wear Sun Screen, a hat, and sun glasses.
Refreshments/Food: Bring your own but no alcohol allowed.
