‘Magical Moments of Change’ Dec. 10 at Grand Central Mall

From local reports

VIENNA, W.Va — Grand Central Mall will present its third annual “Magical Moments of Change” on Saturday, Dec. 10, from noon to 3 p.m. as part of its award-winning Magical Season of Giving. Shoppers are encouraged to donate new bed and bath linens and winter clothing accessories for The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley’s Secret Christmas Project and the first 150 contributors will receive a Grand Central Mall gift card valued up to $100.

This one day event provides shoppers with an opportunity to give back while earning something in return. The event, which will benefit The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley’s Secret Christmas Project, will collect new bed and bath linens, hats, gloves and scarves. Participants must bring at least one requested item to Grand Central Mall’s Center Court. The first 150 donors ages 18 and older to make their contribution during this time will be given a Grand Central Mall gift card ranging from $10 to $100, courtesy of Astorg Auto Group, as well as a reusable tote bag.

“Grand Central Mall is proud to support The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley as part of our Magical Season of Giving,” said Katrina Stephens, marketing director at Grand Central Mall. “As an integral part of the community, we continue to make great strides in supporting worthy causes that impact our area. The Arc provides a tremendous service for hundreds of individuals in our community on a daily basis, and we are thrilled that our shoppers will be able to assist them in furthering their mission this Christmas.”

Since 1955, The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley has been the premier advocacy organization for children and adults with intellectual, cognitive and related developmental disabilities in the area. The organization remains dedicated to ensuring a satisfying and productive life for everyone by providing programs and services that enable, empower and encourage people with disabilities to live, work and play in their community. The organization’s Secret Christmas Project provides gifts for more than 250 people ages 13 and up with intellectual, cognitive or related developmental disabilities.

“The majority of those served live in special home settings and demonstrate extreme financial need, with little or no outside support to cover their clothing, grooming, transportation, and social needs,” said Amanda Lieving, activities coordinator for The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley.

Magical Moments of Change is part of Grand Central Mall’s Magical Season of Giving. Last year’s event benefited the Mid Ohio Valley Gabriel Project (MOV Gabriel Project). Through the generosity of the community, the mall was able to collect over 500 items. Mall officials chose the The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley as this year’s beneficiary as a result of their participation in the mall’s receipt-based competition, Cash for Your Magical Cause, as they were one of this year’s 23 participating organizations.
