Valley Beekeepers meet Feb. 28

The Mid Ohio Valley Beekeepers’ Association will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Washington County Career Center. A PowerPoint titled “Nucs in Your Apiary” will be presented by Kenny Bach.

Coyote, black vulture clinic for landowners

The Washington Soil and Water Conservation District and USDA-Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will be holding a coyote and black vulture clinic at 6 p.m. March 9 in the Waterford High School FFA room. Eric Householder will talk about what landowners can do to help reduce losses caused by these animals. This is a free clinic but an RSVP is requested.

Warren board member meets on bond issue

Warren Local Board of Education member Bob Allen will be at the Cutler Community Center at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for a discussion with local residents regarding questions, information and concerns about the upcoming bond issue in the district.

Democratic Women meeting Thursday

The Washington County Democratic Women’s Club will have its regular monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the VFW on Pike Street in Marietta. The meeting will follow lunch.

Fish fry Friday at VFW Post 5108

There will be a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5108. The cost is $8. The menu also includes fries, slaw and baked beans. Desserts will also be sold.

River Trail closing

at sewage plant

Marietta’s River Trail is closed from E. Eighth Street behind the Waste Water Treatment Plant to Jefferson Street due to construction at the raw sewage pump station. Work is expected to be complete Oct. 20.

Sanitary sewer repair in 200 block of Front

The Marietta Wastewater Department will be making a sanitary sewer repair in front of 258 Front St. today. There will be no parking on either side of street in front of 258 Front St. The northbound parking lane and driving lane will be closed to allow for equipment and material access. Repairs are expected to be completed by Friday evening, however they may extend into the following week. Please avoid the area if possible.

AUDITIONS COMING

Hipp Stage productions will hold auditions at Peoples Bank Theatre at 5 p.m. Sunday for its summer stock theater productions of “Cabaret” and “The Merchant of Venice.” They are seeking men and women 17 and older for both productions. Actors should prepare a brief monologue from a Shakespeare work of their choosing. Rehearsals start May 15. “Cabaret” will run from June 23 to July 2 while “The Merchant of Venice” will run from June 29 to July 9.
