Churchtown Busy Bunch 4-H Club

The Churchtown Busy Bunch 4-H Club met Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at the Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The meeting was called to order by secretary Anna Strahler. The American pledge was led by Ruslan Strahler and the 4-H pledge was led by Sydney Heischman.

The order of business was presenting the lap blankets to the Marietta Center as a community service project. The club also sang Christmas carols for the residents of the center.

They then went to Pastime Pizza for a club/family activity. Club members enjoyed pizza and watching TV at Pastime Pizza for refreshments/recreation.

The next meeting will be at noon Sunday, Jan.15, at the St. John Senior Center.

Trail Blazer 4-H Club

The Trail Blazer 4-H Club held its first meeting of the year at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9, 2017 at the Barlow Fairgrounds. There were 21 members and 15 guests present.

Old business included on Nov. 3, 2016 — End of the year celebration and youth achievement night. The club was well represented: Club of Distinction Award, Banner Club Award, Superior Scrapbook Award, Clover Bud graduations: Marina Johnson, Leukah Lang, Grace Morgan-Phelps; Special Awards: Sara Grace Holbert – Shooting Sports, Young Leader, Community Service; Camp Award – Senior Shooting Sports Ed Camp to Leeann Trippett.

New business included: Handing out 2017 enrollment forms, Junior Fair guides, and Family guides. Turn in the enrollment forms to the Extension Office by April 14. Bring the forms to the next meeting to be signed by the advisor.

Candy bar sales begin — $1 each; 64 per box. Money due in Extension Office by March 31.

4-H week is March 5 through 11. The club is doing a window display at Seaman’s General Merchandise. Alyssa Deeter, Devin Shutts, Bethany Rohr and Olivia Hesson are on the window committee.

Ashley Jackson and Clarence Leedey are doing the poster contest for our club.

March 17 is the Endowment Dinner and Auction. The club is doing a gift card and candy basket. Bring a gift card to next meeting.

First Quality Assurance is 7 p.m. March 23 in the Waterford High School gym. Members and parents must attend.

Annual Tack Auction will be on April 1. Club members are to be at the Barlow Fairgrounds at 3 p.m.

Games played: Guess what’s on your back and egg and spoon game.

Emily Hoffman led the American Pledge and Cory Hoffman led the 4-H Pledge.

After the meeting, the club members helped Clover Buds color kites to be taken to the Appletree Assistant Living in Barlow.

Next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. March 2 at Barlow Fairgrounds. Officers will be elected at this meeting.

Waterford United Methodist Women

The Waterford United Methodist Women met at the church on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at 2 p.m.

President Judy Adams called the meeting to order. She read “Taste and See” from the Upper Room.

Responses for Roll Call was your favorite Bible Verse. No secretary report was given.

The treasurer’s report was given.

The yearly program was discussed and will be distributed when copies are made.

Next meeting will be the World Day of Prayer at the Beverly Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 3, at 1 p.m.

Valentine refreshments were served by Judy Adams.

Door prize was won by Betty Kennedy. There were six members in attendance.
