Feb. 6 proclaimed Peoples Bank Day

From local reports

Marietta Mayor Joe Matthews proclaimed Feb. 6 as Peoples Bank day in honor of the bank’s 115th anniversary.

The proclamation was presented to Peoples Bank president and CEO, Chuck Sulerzyski, during a community breakfast on Thursday, Feb. 16.

“It is extraordinary for a business to last for more than a century in today’s economy,” said Matthews. “It speaks volumes about Peoples Bank and their vision and commitment as a company. Peoples Bank continues to be an exemplary business and community partner in Marietta, and we’re pleased to honor this milestone.”

Peoples Bank was chartered on Feb. 6, 1902. Over the past 115 years, the bank has grown from a single location at the corner of Second and Putnam streets in Marietta, to more than 79 sales offices throughout Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. In just the last five years, the bank has nearly doubled its number of offices and number of employees.
