Muskingum River Road (Twp. 32) will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at 6230 Muskingum River Road to the township line north for the replacement of a culvert. The rain date will be Thursday.
Forum on public
education at MC
Marietta College has been selected as one of four sites in Southern Ohio to host a Regional Community Forum: New and Important Issues in Public Education.
The forum at the college will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 12 in the Alma McDonough Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. This forum is expected to cover two major topics: “Student Substance Abuse and The Role of Community Support Services,” and “Students Seeking Mental Health Treatment is Growing Rapidly.”
City water office closed for move
The Marietta City Water Office will be closed on Monday and Tuesday to re-locate its offices back to 304 Putnam St. The office will re-open at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Work group on public school funding
A work group to study the issue of public school funding and advocate for continuation of free public education will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Washington County Public Library. Organizer Teresa Porter plans to meet with the group monthly. The recently proposed budgets for education at both the state and federal levels call for reduced funding to public school districts and more funding for chartered schools.

Long Rifle Exhibit
at the Lafayette
The 42nd annual Ohio Long Rifle Exhibit will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at The Lafayette Hotel, 101 Front St., Marietta. Admission is $5 for adults; children age 12 and under are free with paying adult.
Bingo Sunday at Williamstown Legion
Bingo will be held Sunday at Williamstown American Legion, 100 Central Ave. Doors open at noon and bingo starts at 1 p.m. The cost is 20 games for $20. There will be an early bird drawing for pre-purchased tickets, country store and the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley will have food, snacks and drinks available. Prizes will include many Thirty-One items, Bath & Body Works, kitchen gadgets, cash prizes and more.
