River Cities Symphony at Peoples Bank Theatre

From staff reports

The Mid-Ohio Valley’s hometown River Cities Symphony Orchestra continues its 2016-2017 season with a fun Broadway-themed Summer Pops concert.

The Pops Go Broadway Concert will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Peoples Bank Theatre, 222 Putnam St., Marietta. Tickets are $15, $20 and $25 and may be purchased online at peoplesbanktheatre.com, by phone at 740-371-5152 or at the ticket office.

“We’ll be performing popular hits from 60 years of Broadway and the movies plus a few well-known light classic favorites,” said Maestro Bob Turizziani. “We’ll be playing with local pops singer Jessica Baldwin and I’ve also invited this year’s West Virginia Youth Symphony Concerto Competition winner, Armann Karimpour, to perform with us.”

The symphony features iconic music from “The Man of La Mancha,” Copeland’s “An Outdoor Overture,” Leroy Anderson’s “Blue Tango,” Weber’s “Concertino for Clarinet,” a range of pop standards, and will wrap up with “That’s Entertainment,” a celebration of musical theater and film.

Corporate concert sponsors are Peoples Bank and Marietta College’s music department. For additional information call 304-485-7068.
