Medical billing specialist class

The Career Center’s Adult Technical Training Center recently celebrated the graduation of the Medical Billing Specialist class.

Graduates of the Medical Billing Specialist program completed nine months of training that focused on: medical terminology, electronic health records, electronic medical records, law and ethics, principles of medical insurance, insurance claims, CPT, ICD10 and Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Lenora Lada, medical programs coordinator at The Career Center who oversees the program, said, “This program is in its second year of being offered and we are proud to say the graduates are employed at a variety of medical facilities throughout the area.”

In June, the class sat for their Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) and Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS) certification exams, with all graduates successfully passing. Employment opportunities for the graduates include the following occupations: patient registration clerk, unit health coordinator, patient financial representative, prior authorization representative, billing/coding, medical records, health information technology, patient accounts, medical receptionist, customer service representative, unit secretary, health coordinator, records clerk, clinical coordinator, registration receptionist, front office, scheduler and collections.
