Civil War Roundtable meets Sept. 21
The next regular meeting of the Civil War Round Table of the Mid-Ohio Valley is 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 320 Second St., Marietta; speaker will be Dan Welch, author and former education coordinator for the Gettysburg Foundation. Presentation is entitled Give Them Rocks: Stonewall Jackson’s Stand at Second Manassas. This presentation supports the CWRT’s Fall 2017 Field Trip to Bull Run/Manassas National Battlefield, Antietam National Battlefield and multiple other sites in and near Washington, D.C. on Oct 12 to 15, 2017. Proceeds from the field trip will be used to fund the CWRT’s local historical marker project.
The meeting is open to the public and there is no cost to attend. Small donations will be accepted to defray a portion of the cost of the meeting.
Churchtown ancestry materials available
The Churchtown and surrounding area ancestry materials recently provided by Gus Letto will be open to the public on the second Sunday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the Convent building next to St. John the Baptist Church at 17784 OH-676.

Ballroom dance class starts Sept. 29
A “Brand New Beginner” Ballroom Dance Class will be starting on Friday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Betsey Mills Club Gym. The class will be taught by Instructor Bill Held and assisted by Sue Montera.

The 8th annual Salem Township VFD Dinner & Drawing is Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Holy Smoke Event Center, 6825 State Route 821, Whipple.

Mid Ohio Valley Players presents auditions for the Youth Theatre production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” Sept. 24, 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. at the theater, 229 Putnam St., in Marietta. Youth Theatre is open to all interested area 6th-12th-graders. Please no younger children.

The Barlow Library will be hosting a free program “Ohio Night Stalkers.” Join M. Feltner & M. Miller, Bigfoot researchers & lecturers as they discuss their field research and photographic evidence. They will share stories, footprint casts, and their thrilling audio tracks from the chilly night in October of 2014 when they were followed in Adams County Ohio. This event is free and open to the public.
