Frontier homecoming

Frontier High School’s Homecoming is Friday against the Wildcats.

Last week was Spirit Week at Frontier High. Each class gained points toward becoming the homecoming spirit week winner by participating and showing school spirit through many activities.

The first activity was dress up days.

¯ Monday was Movie Red Carpet day they were to dress as their favorite TV or Movie Star.

¯ Tuesday was America day, when students wore red, white and blue to show how proud they are to be an American.

¯ Wednesday was Wild West Day.

¯ Thursday was Show your Class Color Day each class was assigned a color to wear to show their class unity. Also on Thursday, the floats were completed and a bonfire with games was held that night.

¯ Friday was Spirit Day. Students wore their blue and gold. There was a parade of the floats, fall sports teams and the homecoming court.

Each day featured part of the class competition.

Logan is the daughter of Curtis and Kylee Haught of Newport and Darcey and Clint Grimes of St. Marys.

Logan participates in softball, volleyball and basketball. She is active in student council, Educational Talent Search and is a class officer. Logan plans to obtain a degree in elementaryeducation.

Breckin is the son of Justin and Brandi Hoff of Newport. Breckin participates in basketball and track and is active in student council and the float committee. He plans to attend Ohio University and pursue a degree in sports medicine.

Next we have our sophomore attendants, Emily Ann Bookman and Jaycob Anthony Seevers.

Emily is the daughter of Bobby and Tammy Bookman of New Matamoras. Emily participates in volleyball, softball and cheerleading. She is active instudent council, Key Club, H-Pac, yearbook, and being a class officer. Emily plans to attend West Virginia University and pursue a degree in psychology.

Jaycob is the son of Jay and Pauletta Seevers of Newport.

Jaycob participates in football and is active in student council, FFA and 4-H. Jaycob plans to join the United States Marine Corp and then attend The Ohio State University and majoring in engineering.

Next we have the junior attendants, Isabella Rose Rinard and Jared Jennings Farnsworth.

Izzy is the daughter of Eric and Tiffany Rinard of New Matamoras.

Izzy participates in softball and basketball. She is active in student council, float committee, H-Pac, Key Club, Spanish club, morning prayer group and is a class officer. She was a Hoby ambassador and is in charge of Frontier Cancer Night helping raise over $3,000 to donate to the The Strecker Cancer Center. Izzy umpires little league baseball, is active in the youth group at Bloomfield United Methodist Church and is a member of the Soaring Eagles 4-H club. Izzy Would first like to study abroad and then become a pediatric radiologist, but she also plans to stay active with Hoby and become a facilitator. She hopes to go on a mission trip to Africa.

Jared is the son of Matthew and Jennifer Farnsworth of Newport. Jarred participates in the FHS Drama Club and is a class officer. He volunteers at the Newport Volunteer Fire Department and is active in the Newport Baptist youth group. Jared plans to attend college and study environmental engineering.

Your first senior Queen and King candidates are Shelby Lynn Armstrong and Brent Stephen West

Shelby is the daughter of Scotty Armstrong of Graysville and Tabatha Armstrong of Lowell.

Shelby is active in Key Club, SRC (Student Readiness Collaboration), H-Pac, Spanish National Honor society and she participated in Cougars on a Mission Honduras trip. She plans to attend Washington State Community College and obtain a nursing degree.

Brent is the son of Johnny and Rhea West of Newport.

Brent participates in baseball and basketball. He was active in prom and float decorating, National Honor Society, student council, morning prayer group, and Student Readiness collaborative. He is a member of the Beverly/Lowell Legion baseball team and helps MJAA sports. Brent plans to become a history teacher and a baseball coach.

Queen and King candidates Shelby Lynn Armstrong and Brent Stephen West.

Next Queen and King candidates are Kylie Jean Daugherty and Reese Michael Amos.

Kylie is the daughter of Dustin and Mary Daugherty of Newport.

Kylie participates in softball and basketball. She is active in student council, prom and float committee, yearbook and is a member of the National Honor Society. Kylie plans to attend a four-year college and continue playing sports but is undecided about her major.

Reese is the son of Justin Amos and Lacey Smith of New Matamoras.

Reese participates in football and baseball. He is a member of Upward Bound. He plans to join the union and become an electrician or go to school to become a dental hygienist.

Next, Queen and King candidates are Samantha Lynn Farnsworth and Tobias Martin Minder.

Samantha is the daughter of Joseph and Linda Farnsworth of New Matamoras.

Samantha is active in National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Key Club, yearbook, float and prom committee, student council and is a class officer. She volunteers at the Newport Food Pantry and New Matamoras Library. Samantha plans to attend West Virginia University and major in human nutrition or psychology.

Toby is the son of Dave and Becky Minder of New Matamoras. Toby participates in baseball and basketball. He has been a dual enrollment student his junior and senior years at Washington State Community College. He enjoys hunting and raising farm animals. He plans to attend college and earn his CPA degree to become an accountant.

Our final Queen and King candidates are Alexis Kiara Scadden and Donald Andrew Kiggans.

Alexis is the daughter of April and Jeremy Binegar of Newport and David Scadden of St. Marys.

Alexis participates in volleyball and basketball. She is a member of Spanish National Honor Society, student council, National Honor Society, Key Club and is a class officer.

She plans to attend Marietta College and major in health science.

Andrew is the son of Steven Kiggans of Newport and Jennifer Kiggans of Parkersburg.

Andrew was active in prom decorating and float building. He likes to play the guitar, listen to music and watch movies with his friends. He attends Fellowship Baptist Church. Andrew plans to attend Washington State Community College and persue a career in software development.
