HVAC program installs air conditioning at area church

The HVAC program at The Career Center – Adult Technical Training recently completed installation of a new furnace and air conditioning system in both the sanctuary and fellowship hall at Rosemar United Methodist Church in Vienna.

Rick Waybright, church member, worked with the HVAC students and explained, “The church congregation is very small and has limited finances. We would not have had this work done without the help of The Career Center. The students are very professional and have been great to work with; they have been the answer to our prayers.”

Bob Channel, second year HVAC program student, served as a project lead and said, “The hands-on experience this project has given us has been very valuable. Being able to put the training we received in the classroom to use in a work environment is something you do not experience at other schools. It has also given us the opportunity to give back to our community.”

Sam Brookover, HVAC program instructor, explained, “The project provided the students with real-world experience. The work took three days to complete and included installation of refrigeration lines, duct work and electrical, as well as the installation of the system.

Brookover added, “One of the benefits of the project was that it allowed the students to work together and it challenged them to do their very best. Experience like this prepares the student for both residential and light commercial work at any HVAC company.

The Career Center’s Adult Technical Training Center is located on State Route 676. For the HVAC program enrollment information call 740-373-6283 or visit www.mycareerschool.com.
