Behavioral Health Board to meet

The Washington County Behavioral Health Board will have its next regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at the behavioral health board office, 344 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. In addition, the steering committee will meet at the board office at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays (Oct. 24, 31 and Nov. 7, 14). Meetings are open to the public.

Ely Chapman annual book giveaway

The annual Ely Chapman Education Foundation Book Giveaway and Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Ely Chapman Education Center, located at 403 Scammel St. in Marietta. Thousands of free books, great homemade food and an indoor yard sale will once again greet people attending the event. To donate items to the indoor yard sale, or for information, call 740-376-9533. Ely Chapman is a United Way Agency.

Soup supper at

Reno church

A variety soup supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Sand Hill United Methodist Church in Reno. There will be a free will offering.

Medication Take Back Day is Oct. 28

Medication Take Back Day will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 28. This is an opportunity to dispose of unused, expired and/or unwanted medication. There are several disposal sites and meds can be dropped off anonymously, no questions asked. You do not have to remove labels from bottles and all medications, including syringes, patches and liquids will be accepted.

Drop-off locations: The Belpre Senior Center, Belpre; Corner of Second and Putnam streets, Marietta; White Oak Pharmacy, Barlow; Fort Frye High School, Beverly; Buckeye Hills/Area Agency on Aging, Reno; Devola Medical Center; Hardwood Components, New Matamoras. Medication can also be disposed of anytime at the sheriff’s office on Fourth Street.

Liberty Township

fall cleanup

Liberty Township will be holding its annual fall clean up Saturday. Items can be placed in the dumpster at the township building. Please don’t dispose of any paint, batteries or any other hazardous materials.

Genealogical meeting is Saturday

The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday in the lower level meeting room of the Washington County Public Library, 615 Fifth St., Marietta. There is no planned speaker, so members are encouraged to bring any family artifact, research experience or stories to share with other members.

Visitors are always welcome at the meetings and free parking is available on the street or in the adjacent parking lot. The facility is handicapped accessible.
