River of Life Church hosts holiday dinner

River of Life Church, located at 200 Franklin St., will be hosting a Thanksgiving/Christmas community dinner free and open to everyone at 5 p.m. Friday. Offered will be turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, desserts and all the fixings.

Backyard Christmas Shoebox donations

Gospel Mission Food Pantry, 309 Lancaster St., is accepting donations for its Operation Backyard Christmas Shoebox from now through Dec. 15. On Dec. 23, Santa will arrive at the Gospel Mission and each child will receive a shoe box filled with goodies. Any and all children are invited to attend the event. The following are items we need to fill the shoe boxes: Crayons, coloring books, small toys, travel size games, small puzzles, Play-Doh, hats, scarfs, gloves, pencils, gum, candy, small stuffed animals, lip balm or any items that will fit inside a shoe box and will bring a smile to a child’s face.

Sanitary sewer repairs on Seventh St.

The Marietta Wastewater Department will be making a sanitary sewer repair in front of 114 North Seventh St. between Butler and Quarry streets today, weather permitting. There will be no parking on either side of the street and through traffic will be limited one lane each direction to allow access of equipment and material. Signs will be posted. The work is expected to be completed by Friday evening, however may extend into the following week. Please avoid the area if possible.

Trip to Longaberger Homestead

The O’Neill Center and Linda Miller will host a trip to the Longaberger Homestead on Dec. 6. The trip cost is $35 and includes transportation to the Homestead, shopping in Dresden and a stop to see the Cambridge Courthouse light show. There will be discounts at the Homestead, and at shops in Dresden. The bus ride will include door prizes donated by Linda Miller, Longaberger consultant. Used book sale at Barlow Library

A used book sale will be held at the Barlow Library, 45 White Oak Professional Center State Route 339, sponsored by The Friends of the Barlow Library. The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. In addition to the book sale, on Saturday there will also be crafters and vendors located at the library for “Barlow Christmas in the Village.”
