Lowell Council

meeting rescheduled

The Village of Lowell Council meeting has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 13. The meeting is open to the public.

Anchorage open for viewing Saturday

The Anchorage, at 424 George St., Marietta, will be open for viewing from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Visitors will be able to access several rooms that are under restoration, including rooms not open last year. For a donation to the Anchorage Restoration Fund, children can make a Christmas craft item with Prudence Knox Burgardt from Peddler of Dreams Art Space, and “Haunted History” tours of the mansion by Hidden Marietta will be available on the hour for a $10 fee. Washington County Historical Society board members will also be on hand to explain new programs, planning,and opportunities to volunteer with the society in 2018.

$2 bag sale through Dec. 28 at pantry

A $2 bag sale will be held through Dec. 28 at the thrift store of the Western Washington County Food Pantry, 18 High St., Vincent. Hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday.

Marietta Children’s Choir to perform

The Marietta Children’s Choir will perform its third annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church in Marietta. Enjoy a beautiful evening of music directed by Danielle Taylor and accompanied by Karen Picard Young, with guest percussionist Scott Kitchen. The concert is free and open to the public. Goodwill donations will be accepted.

Fundraiser for Humane Society

The eighth annual They Light Up Our Lives fundraiser for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley has begun and will continue throughout the month of December.

Remember and honor the pets that have enriched your lives by symbolically buying a light for $5 per pet on the Christmas tree displayed at American Flags and Poles store on Front Street. Pictures of your pets are also being accepted to be put on the tree.

Forms can be picked up at all veterinarian offices, the HSOV and many businesses. They can be dropped off at the HSOV and American Flags and Poles store throughout December.

All proceeds will go to the HSOV.
