Toy wagon giveaway Friday at fairgrounds
In partnership with Wagons Ho Ho Ho, the Southeast Ohio Foodbank will be hosting a toy wagon giveaway at the Washington County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to noon Friday. Toy wagons and food items will be given away to income eligible families, with children in the household, who are at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, and are residents of Washington County (limit one per family). Pre-registration is required by contacting the Southeast Ohio Foodbank at 740-385-6813 to reserve a spot. Photo I.D. and proof of residency no more than 60 days old is required.

Beginning Microsoft Excel course offered
Washington State Community College and the Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce are partnering to offer a Beginning Microsoft Excel course set for 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 17, 24 and 31, 2018, 6 to 8 p.m. at the chamber office, 713 Park Drive. Cost for the course is $75.
Participants will be using Excel 2016, with instruction regarding getting started with the program, creating and using a workbook, worksheets, page layout, row and columns, cells, data, illustrations and views. Participants must bring their own laptop and power cord.

Solstice Watch Thurs. at Sacra Via Park
A Solstice Watch will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Sacra Via Park between Second and Third streets. Participants can view the sun setting on the western Muskingum Valley bluff between 4 to 4:30 p.m. in near perfect alignment with Sacra Via. The event will be free and open to the public, with maps and a brief commentary provided by Castle archaeologist Wes Clarke.
Christmas Day Feast open to the public
The fourth annual Christmas Day Feast will be held Christmas Day at the Marietta First Presbyterian Church, 401 Fourth St. For reservations to dine in as a guest in the fellowship hall, call 740-371-4587 and leave your name and the number of guests in your party; full service dine-in menu includes turkey and ham, dressing, a variety of casseroles, breads and mashed potatoes and gravy, soups, desserts, beverages and fruits. Live Christmas music will be performed by the Puls Family String Trio. Doors open at noon and the meal is served at 1 p.m. Meals are free and the event is open to the public.
A roast beef dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5108, 319 Pike St., Marietta. The cost is $8.
