City offices closed Monday, Tuesday
Marietta city offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday in observance of the Christmas holiday. In addition, offices will also be closed on Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Day. The city’s emergency services will continue to operate as well as the city’s water and waste water plant.
Board of Elections closed through Jan. 1
The Washington County Board of Elections will be closed Monday through Jan. 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The office will re-open at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

No Rumpke trash
Rumpke trash and recycling collection will not take place on Monday due to the Christmas holiday. Pickup will be delayed one day for the rest of the week. If normal pickup is Tuesday, it will occur Wednesday and so on. Pickup will also not take place on Jan. 1 and collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of that week.
New Year’s Eve
Party at Post 5108
A New Year’s Eve Party will be held Dec. 31 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5108, 319 Pike St., Marietta, Dinner will be from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu will be baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and rolls. The cost is $15. Insured Sound will perform with no cover charge from 8 p.m. to midnight. Sauerkraut and pork and mashed potatoes will be served at midnight; no reservations required.

No vaccinations until 2018 from city health
No vaccinations will be administered the week of Christmas or New Year’s at the Marietta City Health Department, 304 Putnam St.
Starting in January vaccine clinics will only be held on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the first open Monday of the month beginning Jan. 8 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Flu shots are available for all ages, including the high-dose flu vaccine for those 65 and older. The cost for children is $20 and adults are $25, or Medicaid, Medicare and most insurance is accepted. No one will be turned away due to inability to pay.
