Patsy Cline’s story
Mid-Ohio Valley Players in Marietta, will present “Always…Patsy Cline” by Ted Swindley on Jan. 19, 20, 26, 27, Feb. 2, 3 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 28 at 3 p.m.. The show is based on a true story about legendary country singer Patsy Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. Tickets are available at MOVP.org, the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Marty’s Print Shop and at the box office prior to each show.
O’Neill sponsors financial workshops
The O’Neill Center is sponsoring financial workshops, beginning Jan. 12 at 9 a.m. This five week set of workshops is presented by Kim Luft, financial advisor for Edward Jones. Enjoy a cup of coffee and brunch while increasing your financial knowledge. During this series of classes participants will get binders and certificates of completion, as they go along. The Memorial Health System is currently experiencing a high volume of flu cases. For the health and safety of patients, visitors and community, they are currently restricting visitors. The restrictions are two visitors per patient, no visitors under the age of 18 and no visitors with flu-like symptoms.
Fort Frye to hold first meeting of 2018
There will be an organizational meeting of the Fort Frye Local School District Board of Education at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Beverly-Center Elementary, 510 Fifth St., Beverly.
New Year’s Eve Party at VFW Post 5108
A New Year’s Eve Party will be held Sunday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5108, 319 Pike St., Marietta, Dinner will be from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu will be baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and rolls. The cost is $15. Insured Sound will perform with no cover charge from 8 p.m. to midnight. Sauerkraut and pork and mashed potatoes will be served at midnight; no reservations.
