Wood BOE to vote on personnel issues
PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Board of Education meets tonight to discuss next year’s school calendar and an unnamed personnel issue.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. today at the district’s 13th and Plum streets offices in Parkersburg. The meeting is open to the public, but those wishing to speak must submit a comment card prior to the start of the meeting.
The final agenda for 2017 includes a discussion of the 2018-19 school calendar led by Director of Elementary Schools Keith Palmer and a discussion on the Wood County Retirement Board led by Finance Director Whitni Kines.
The board also will discuss a recent state School Building Authority grant for $7.4 million for expansion and improvement of the Wood County Technical Center in south Parkersburg. The grant was announced last week by the state and Wood County Schools. Pier Bocchini, director of career and technical education for Wood County Schools, will lead tonight’s discussion.
The board also will discuss donating salvaged security cameras to the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley. That item will be up for a vote tonight.
The final discussion item is listed only as a “personnel issue” and may be addressed in executive session. No further details were immediately available.
One student will be up for a one-year expulsion on tonight’s agenda for violation of the Safe Schools Act. No details are made public on student disciplinary action.
