College Credit Plus meeting at MHS

Marietta High School will hold an informational meeting for students and parents in the MHS Auditorium to explain the 2018-2019 College Credit Plus (CCP) program. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 25 and will address several topics including updates to the program. Local college representatives will also be available to answer questions. Students who plan to participate in the 2018-2019 CCP program, whether on the high school or college campus, are highly encouraged to attend with their parent.

Special flu shot clinic Tuesday in Marietta

The Marietta City Health Department, 304 Putnam St., Marietta, is offering a special flu shot clinic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. The health department will be closed Monday in observation of Martin Luther King Day.

Influenza is widespread in the state of Ohio. There are multiple cases of influenza in the local hospitals, with restricted visitation. The health department has high-dose flu vaccine for those 65 and over, and all doses for adults and children 6 months of age and older. Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance are accepted. No one will be turned away due to inability to pay. Additional clinics will be held every Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the rest of the flu season.

Family & Children First Council to meet

Washington County Family & Children First Council will have its next meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Family & Children First office, 202 Davis Ave.

Fair Housing Act

presentation Jan. 22

The O’Neill Center will host a Fair Housing of Ohio Presentation at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 22. The presentation by Disability Rights Ohio will include information on protections under the Fair Housing Act for people with disabilities and unlawful discrimination (including a failure to accommodate one’s disabilities, like allowing a service animal or emotional support animal, or an accessible parking space, or physical modifications to one’s apartment) and how to handle such issues with one’s landlord or housing provider.

The presentation will also cover Disability Rights Ohio and the work they do and how one can contact them for advice and assistance. Registration may be completed by calling 740-373-3914.
