County farm bureau will discuss CAUV program

From local reports

For the past six year, Current Agriculture Use Valuation (CAUV) has been a top priority of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and the Washington County Farm Bureau. The CAUV calculation that was originally created was intended to follow the farm economy and for nearly 40 years it did just that. More recently landowners have noticed drastic increases in their taxes due to non-farm related factors skewing the formula. Ohio Farm Bureau has worked through the Ohio Department of Taxation and through legislation to reform the calculation of CAUV.

To better understand CAUV, join the Washington County Farm Bureau at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the Washington County Career Center, 21740 State Route 676, Marietta. Washington County Auditor Bill McFarland will be discussing the requirements, enrollment and appraisal process for this program. Leah Curtis, Policy Council from Ohio Farm Bureau, will be discussing the formula, why changes were needed, what changes occurred and the results you will be seeing on your future tax bills. RSVP to 740-452-2356 or washington@ofbf.org so plans can be made accordingly.
