Pantry collects for kids Easter baskets

The Gospel Mission Food Pantry will be collecting for its eighth annual Easter Baskets for the Children event from Monday through March 23. The Easter Bunny helpers will come to Gospel Mission Food Pantry at 8 a.m. March 24 to put all the Easter baskets together. From 1 to 3 p.m. March 31, the Easter Bunny will hop in to the Gospel Mission and each child will get to visit with him and will receive an Easter Basket. Some of the items needed are: Easter baskets, Easter grass, plastic eggs, coloring sheets, candy and lip balm. Donations of cookies and juice for the children are also requested.

Right Path sponsors spaghetti dinner

The Right Path for Washington County is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. March 18 at Spagna’s Restaurant, 301 Gilman Ave., Marietta. Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, bread and a beverage for $12. Tickets are available from any board member, at the door or by calling 740-374-6990.

Proceeds benefit The Right Path’s work to promote healthy youth development and to provide events, activities and community service opportunities offering community engagement and encouraging healthy decision-making.

Mobile food pantry distribution March 14

The Southeast Ohio Foodbank will be hosting a mobile pantry distribution at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 309 Seventh St., Beverly from 10 a.m. to noon March 14. Food items will be given away to income eligible families who are at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, and are residents of Washington County. Pre-registration is required by calling the Southeast Ohio Foodbank at 740-385-6813 to reserve a spot. Photo I.D. and proof of residency no more than 60 days old is required.

Non-timber forest products workshop

The Washington SWCD is hosting a non-timber forest products workshop March 15 at 6 p.m. at the Barlow Fairgrounds. Tanner Filyaw will discuss products such as ramps, ginseng and mushrooms. This is a free workshop but an RSVP is requested. Filyaw will also have ramp bulbs available for purchase.

Veto Lake Road (County Road 3A) will be closed 0.1 miles from Ohio 7 between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. today in order for AEP to relocate an existing power line, weather permitting. This is a continuation of work that began on Feb. 15.

The Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce re is hosting a ribbon cutting downtown to promote the merchants reopening after recent flooding. It will be at 4 p.m. today on Butler Street between Front and Second streets.
