Contest March 25
The annual Great Paper Airplane Contest will be held on March 25, in the sanctuary of First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta, 232 Third St., Marietta. Admission to the contest is the donation of a non-perishable food item for local food banks. Children and adults of all ages from throughout the area are invited to participate.
Registration will open at 12:30 p.m. and the contest will begin at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in each of the age groups for three categories of flight: longest flight aloft; fanciest flight; and most accurate flight. All planes must be made out of paper. Mechanical enhancements, weights or pilots of any kind will not be permitted. Be creative and bring your missile to the sanctuary and launch it from the loft.

Post 389 sponsors public breakfast
Beverly American Legion Post 389 is sponsoring a public breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds are for American flag displays in Beverly and Waterford. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger.
Fish fry Friday in Lower Salem
There will be a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department on Ohio 821 in Lower Salem. The cost is a donation. The menu includes fish, french fries, green beans, applesauce, bread/butter, desserts and beverages.
Egg hunt March 31
in Dodge Park
The Easter Egg Hunt for Beverly-Waterford will be held at noon on March 31 in Dodge Park. The hunt is for children preschool through grade 4. Participants need to bring their own baskets. This event is being sponsored by the Beverly Lions Club and the Muskingum Valley Leo Club.
Genealogical Society meets Saturday
The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday in the lower level meeting room of the Washington County Public Library, at 615 Fifth St., Marietta. Glenna Hoff of Campus Martius Museum will be speaking on pioneer women. Visitors are always welcome at the meetings and free parking is available on the street or in the adjacent parking lot. The facility is handicapped accessible.
Egg hunt March 31
at Liberty Park
Tunnel United Methodist Church is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. March 31 in Warren Township’s Inman-Liberty Park. There will be four age groups from toddlers to sixth graders. Refreshments and activities will follow in Tunnel’s Multi-Purpose Building.
