Kindergarten signups for Marietta schools

Marietta City Schools kindergarten registration for the 2018-2019 school year is scheduled for March 26-29 at the Board of Education office, 111 Academy Drive. Registration dates for each elementary are as follows: Putnam- March 26; Washington- March 27; Phillips-March 28; Harmar- March 29. Children must be 5 years of age by Aug. 1. A kindergarten registration packet will be mailed home to parents/guardians who have contacted the district prior to registration. Those who do not receive a packet in the mail, or a call to schedule an appointment, should call Lesa at 740-376-2468, ext. 8110. Parents/guardians are asked to bring the child’s birth certificate, immunization record, as well as divorce, separation or custody papers showing legal guardianship. Proof of residency in the school district, such as a bill or rental agreement identifying the physical address is also required.

Tunnel church hosts Easter egg hunt

Tunnel United Methodist Church is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. March 31 in Warren Township’s Inman-Liberty Park. There will be four age groups from toddlers to sixth graders. Refreshments and activities will follow in Tunnel’s Multi-Purpose Building (where the egg hunt will be held if the weather is bad). The park is behind the church and the church is behind the Warren Volunteer Fire Department at Ohio 550 and Coffman Road.

Paper airplane

contest Sunday

The annual Great Paper Airplane Contest will be held on Sunday, in the sanctuary of First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta, 232 Third St., Marietta. Admission to the contest is the donation of a non-perishable food item for local food banks. Children and adults of all ages from throughout the area are invited to participate.

Registration will open at 12:30 p.m. and the contest will begin at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in each of the age groups for three categories of flight: longest flight aloft; fanciest flight; and most accurate flight. All planes must be made out of paper. Mechanical enhancements, weights or pilots of any kind will not be permitted. Be creative and bring your missile to the sanctuary and launch it from the loft.

WSCC holds job fair 2-4 p.m. today

Washington State Community College will hold its fifth annual Spring Job Fair from 2 to 4 p.m. today in the college’s main building.
