Easter egg hunts & more

Several community Easter Egg hunts are scheduled for the Easter holiday weekend, along with other Easter activities.

They include:


¯ An Easter egg hunt will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Barlow Presbyterian Church, Ohio 550 and Warrior Drive. The event is for all children up to and including those 12 years old.

¯ An Easter egg hunt for Beverly-Waterford will begin at noon on Saturday in Dodge Park. The hunt is for children preschool through grade four. Participants need to bring their own baskets. This event is being sponsored by the Beverly Lions Club and the Muskingum Valley Leo Club.

¯ Tunnel United Methodist Church is hosting an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday in Warren Township’s Inman-Liberty Park. There will be four age groups from toddlers to sixth graders. Refreshments and activities will follow in Tunnel’s Multi-Purpose Building (where the egg hunt will be held if the weather is bad). The park is behind the church and the church is behind the Warren Volunteer Fire Department at Ohio 550 and Coffman Road. For information, call 740-374-8685.

¯ The Washington County Fish and Game Club annual Easter egg hunt will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the clubhouse in Whipple. Age groups are 1 to 12 and grandparents. The event is for members only.

¯ Lowell Masonic Lodge # 436 will hold its 22nd annual Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday. The event will be held on Buell Island. This event is free and open to the public for children up to age 12. Cookies and drinks will be provided. Come early for a ticket for prizes donated by Lowell Area Business Partners and Lowell Masonic Lodge.

¯ The Reno Lions Easter egg hunt will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Marietta Township Recreation Center.

¯ The Newport United Church along with the youth of the church is sponsoring an Easter event and egg hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Newport United Methodist Church on Greene Street. Children will sing songs and make a craft to take home.

¯ An Easter egg hunt, games and fun activities for children will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Newport Baptist Church.

¯ In Williamstown, a community Easter egg hunt will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Tomlinson Park.

¯ The River City Farmers Market will be celebrating the sixth year of its annual Easter cake and dessert auction on Saturday at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Auctioneer Ed Williams will be offering his services to auction the goods.

All items that will be auctioned are handmade and donated by vendors, both past and current. Items typically include cakes, cupcakes, pies and cookies. There is no charge for admission to this event, but guests are encouraged to visit and support the local craftsmen, farmers and vendors. All proceeds from the dessert auction will fund other community events and activities at the River City Farmers Market.

The market opens at 8 a.m. and the auction will begin at 10 a.m. after all vendors drop off their donations.


¯ There will be an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department.

¯ HarborSite Baptist Church invites the community to its Easter service Sunday. A pancake/sausage breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. The service will begin at 10 a.m. with the children’s church performing “The Empty Tomb” along with special music. There will be an Easter message by Pastor Don Arbuckle. The church currently meets on Harmar Hill in the Veritas Academy building.

¯ Easter in the Park will be held Sunday at Flanders Field. There will be a worship service at 10 a.m. at Fort Harmar’s River of Life Church followed by an egg hunt at 11:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded. For information, call 740-374-8967.


¯ An Easter Renewal Celebration will be held Monday at the O’Neill Center, located at 333 Fourth St., Marietta. There will be a re-enactment of Cleopas on the Emmaus Road and special Easter snacks and beverages will be served. There will also be a door prize For information or to register, call 740-373-3914.
