¯ During a traffic stop on March 20 in the 700 block of Washington Street, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle. Passenger Derek D. Oldfield admitted possession of used drug paraphernalia in the car but said a baggie that field tested positive for cocaine was not his, even though it was in the same backpack. He then admitted to hiding marijuana in his underwear. He was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.

¯ On March 20, officers were dispatched to 106 Washington St. for a possible overdose. The caller said a male resident was unresponsive when she returned to the residence. Michael A. Karcher was located and revived with Narcan before being transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital. Charges will be filed at a later date.

¯ An officer was dispatched to 221 Sheldon Ave. on March 21 for an overdose. Matthew V. Scott was revived. A syringe was recovered and he will be summoned to court for possesion of drug abuse instruments.

¯ Officers responded to a domestic violence incident at 1042 Hadley Lane on March 21. Ashley A. Barcelli said her boyfriend had struck her twice with this fist. Corey Enos Singer was arrested for domestic violence.

¯ On Thursday, an officer responded to a report of two girls at Marietta High School in possession of marijuana. Their parents were notified and both students were suspended. Documentation was given to juvenile court.

¯ Samantha A. Gilliam, of 528 ¢ Fifth St., reported Thursday that her boyfriend, Terry Chandler, had pulled a gun on her and ordered her out of her vehicle before stealing it. Chandler was located in Morgan County with the vehicle and charged with aggravated robbery.

¯ An employee of Rite Aid, 301 Greene St., reported Friday a theft from the store. The customer is known to employees and will receive a summons on a theft charge.

¯ An officer was dispatched to 103 Wildwood Drive on Saturday to assist the Marietta Fire Department with a deceased 60-year-old woman. It is believed her death was due to natural causes but the body will be transported to Montgomery County for an autopsy.

¯ During a traffic stop Sunday in the 100 block of Pike Street, a search revealed seven hypodermic needles in a backpack belonging to David J. Smearman III. The case remains under investigation.

¯ Misty D. Sears, of 106 Riley Drive, reported Sunday that a man who lived across the hall had threatened her and two others with a knife after an argument over a possible prior theft. Before officers arrived, the suspect fled on foot. This case remains under investigation.

¯ Laura M. Bates, of 315 Gilman Ave., reported Monday that the rear license plate had been removed from her vehicle either at her residence or when parked at her mother’s home, also in the city.

¯ An officer investigated a health emergency at 523 Phillips St. on Monday. It was reported that the subject might have done LSD.

Reports/Washington County

¯ A deputy began an investigation Friday regarding someone stealing a tax return. This case was determined to be unfounded.

¯ A deputy began an investigation in Dunham Township Saturday regarding a possible domestic violence incident. In speaking with all parties this case was determined to be unfounded.

¯Kyle Davis, of 565 Fleming Road, Lowell, reported Saturday that items were removed from the property to include a John Deere zero turn mower, hunting items, weedeater and golf clubs. This case remains under investigation.

¯ On Sunday, a deputy responded to the area of Hayesville Road in Waterford Township to a truck on fire in the roadway, belonging to Nathaniel Kinder, of 5720 Buchanan Road, Waterford. Upon arrival the Beverly Waterford Volunteer Fire Department had extinguished the fire and the truck appeared to be a total loss.

Arrests/Washington County

The following people were recently processed into the Washington County Jail:

¯ Timothy Francis Eugene Blake, 37, of 47230 State Route 7, New Matamoras, was arrested for probation violation, a misdemeanor.

¯ Nicholas Ray Butcher, 36, of 3303 Chatham Ave., Cleveland, was arrested on a warrant for driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, a misdemeanor.

¯ Devan Wade Anderson, 27, of 900 Tresch Road, Fleming, was arrested on warrants for receiving stolen property, a felony, littering, parking violation and receiving stolen property, all misdemeanors.
