Feral cat group addresses Williamstown City Council
WILLIAMSTOWN — Representatives of the Save a Kitty Feral Cat program spoke with the Williamstown City Council about their program during Tuesday’s council meeting.
Mayor Jean Ford said the group works to keep the cat population under control by catching feral cats, having them spayed or neutered and then releasing them where they were found.
Councilman Marty Seufer said the group has also approached the Wood County Commission for funding in the past. However, Tuesday’s presentation was not a request for funding.
After the cats are spayed or neutered, a small area is cut from their ears to identify them as spayed or neutered, Seufer said. He said the cats are released where they were found.
In other matters
Ford took time to address a rumor that made the rounds in the city during last week’s general election, she said.
“There was a rumor I was in ill health,” she said. “Whoever was spreading this was telling people I was ill and would not serve my (two-year) term.”
Ford said Tuesday she has been given a clean bill of health from the Cleveland Clinic and her cardiologist.
