Primary election results finalized with official canvass

The Washington County Board of Elections met Monday to finalize the results from the May 8 primary, with little change to Election Day numbers.

The official numbers show a 25.04 total voter turnout in the county, with 59.45 percent of those Democrats, 56.78 Republican and 1.76 voting on a nonpartisan ballot.

Official numbers in the Republican race for Washington County Common Pleas Judge had John Halliday with 3,342 votes (48.77 percent) and John Triplett with 3,510 votes (51.23 percent). Triplett will go on to face Democrat Shoshanna Brooker in the November election.

Final numbers in the Republican Washington County Commissioner race were Jeremy Barton with 1,788 votes (27.89 percent), Kevin Ritter with 2,909 votes (45.37 votes) and Ray Witten with 1,715 votes (26.75 percent).

In the Republican race for Washington County Auditor, write-in candidate Matthew Livengood had 1,443 votes while fellow write-in Daniel Everson had 439.

Final, official numbers for the Washington County Foster Placement Levy were 5,851 votes for the levy (55.79 percent) and 4,636 votes against it (44.21).
