Man sentenced for probation violation

A Columbus man was sentenced Wednesday in Washington County Common Pleas court for a probation violation stemming from a 2013 charge.

James C. Parmiter, 36, last known address 76 Oral Ave., Apt. 7, Columbus, received 120 days in the Washington County Jail with 30 days credit for time served. He will continue supervision with his probation officer and will be placed in the first open bed at the Star Center, a private drug rehabilitation center in Delaware.

The initial 2013 charge was tampering with evidence. On July 2, 2013, Parmiter was being transported to the Washington County Jail and a concealed plastic water bottle was discovered in his pants that contained clean urine. Parmiter stated at the time he knew his urine sample would not pass a drug test.

Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark Kerenyi imposed the jail sentence because of the probation violation.

Local man sentenced for heroin possession

A Marietta man was sentenced Wednesday for possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. Chad Warner, 33, of 260 Greenbrier Circle, was sentenced in Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark Kerenyi’s court to two years of community control, 60 days in the Washington County Jail with one day credit and must take the first available bed at the Star Center, a private rehabilitation facility in Delaware.

Warner was in the home of married couple Dylan Riley, 31, and Chelsea Hayes, 26, at 715 Cisler Drive when a search warrant was executed on April 25, 2017. “Chad Warner was at their home when the search warrant was conducted,” explained Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Derkin. “There was a single use hit of heroin on his person.” Riley pleaded guilty March 9 and was sentenced to one year of community control, 60 days in the Washington County Jail and treatment at the Star Center. Hayes has not pleaded and sentencing is pending.
