Tour at Makerspace

John Martincic (right) watches as a router inscribes a block of wood at the Epicenter Makerspace on Lancaster Street while John and Megan Duncan wait for the tool to finish its work. The router, which runs a series of movements driven by computer instructions, is part of the array of equipment at the center, which held a grand opening Wednesday afternoon attended by dozens of people. A project of Building Bridges to Careers, the center includes sophisticated power tools, 3D printers and instructional space for use by students and the community. Martincic, founder and president of Forest Scientific Corp., was the featured speaker at the event, and the Duncans were visiting from Parkersburg, where they own a woodworking, furniture and home decor shop. Information about what’s available at the Epicenter, including classes and monthly memberships, can be found at its Facebook page or on its website,
