Exhibit on history of The Woman’s Home
“A Farewell Tribute — Keeping the Memory Alive”
An exhibit on the history of The Woman’s Home in Marietta will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. June 24, with a reception and guided tours put on by The Pink Museum and members of the home’s board. Refreshments with speakers will take place at 3 p.m.
The home, at 812 Third St., announced its planned closure June 26, 2017 after 132 years serving women of the area.
This event is open to the public with donations to The Pink Museum welcome.
Grammy winner will perform at MOVP
Recent Grammy winner for Best Children’s Album, Tim Kubart, will be playing a free show in downtown Marietta at the Mid-Ohio Valley Players Theatre at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Tim Kubart plays original songs for families while leading an interactive and communal dance party for the whole family to enjoy. This show is part of the Libraries Rock summer reading program at the library. Free tickets may be picked up any time at the Washington County Public Library in the Children’s Department located at 615 Fifth St. in Marietta.
Horse show will be at Barlow Fairgrounds
Ohio Horseman Council of Washington County is providing a fun contesting horse show for all ages. The event will be on June 30, with registration at 9 a.m. and the show beginning at 10 a.m. The event will be located at the Barlow Fairgrounds. The cost is $2 per event and there are roughly 35 events. There will be a concession stand, a country store and wagon rides available.
Children Services Board will meet
The Washington County Children Services Board will meet in regular session at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at 204 Davis Ave. The agenda is available upon request by contacting the agency at 740-373-3485.
Tri County Food Pantry fundraiser
Tri County Food Pantry will hold its annual fundraiser from 4 to 10 p.m. June 23 at Salem-Liberty Elementary School in Lower Salem.The menu will consist of Cowboy Dan’s Chicken, mashed potatoes, homemade noodles, green beans, slaw, rolls and homemade desserts. The cost of the meal is $7.50 for adults and $3.50 for children. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy listening to music performed by “Pickin On Country” and purchase some tickets for the country store and side raffles. The food pantry currently serves more than 125 families in the area. All proceeds from the event goes to purchase food for the families.
Kids fishing derby at Buckeye Park
The 13th annual Kids Fishing Derby will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Buckeye Park. Sign- in is from 8 to 9 a.m. with the derby from 9 to 11 a.m. and lunch at 11. provided by Marietta Civitan Club. Those participating should bring a fishing pole and a comfortable chair. All participants must be 16 years of age or younger. The event is being sponsored by Peoples Bank.
