July 6 meeting on Barker House

The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, has requested that a public meeting be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, to continue discussion and planning for the preservation of the historic Judge Joseph Barker Jr. House in Newport Township. The meeting will be held at the Newport Community Center, Newport Volunteer Fire Department, 38350 State Route 7, Newport.

Both Corps staff and representatives of the Ohio Historic Preservation Office will be present, and all interested local citizens are urged to attend in order to demonstrate support for this preservation effort.

Barlow Twp. trustees to meet July 13

The Barlow Township trustees will hold their regular meeting for July at the Township Hall at 567 Warrior Drive, Vincent, Ohio on Friday, July 13 at 9 A.M.

Matamoras Masonic Lodge breakfast

Matamoras Masonic Lodge #374, 301 Main Street, New Matamoras, is holding a community breakfast, Saturday, July 7th, 8 to 11 a.m. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, pancakes, cinnamon roll, orange juice, and coffee. The public is invited to attend. Carry out is available.

Free hearing aid cleaning July 5

Ohio Valley Hearing Professionals will be at O’Neill Center, 333 4th St., Marietta for free hearing aid cleaning on July 5th, noon until 2 p.m. A hearing test clinic will be held on Aug. 7 at noon, appointments requested. Hearing aid cleanings are the first Thursday of every other month and free hearing tests are conducted the first Tuesday every other month. The next hearing test will be Aug. 7. Vendor Quarter

Auction July 14

A Vendor Quarter Auction will be July 14 at Marietta Church of God, 501 Colegate Drive, Marietta. Doors open at 1 p.m., auction starts at 2 p.m. There will be a $5 admission cost (includes one paddle) and limited extra paddes, $2; bid on quality vendor items with one to four quarters, depending on the retail value; bids are collected before each drawing; food and refreshments available for purchase; all proceeds will benefit the Back to School Giveaway for the MCOG; for more information: Candace Bowman at 740-371-4046 or cbowman1130@live.com.

“Music at the Library,” by the group “Britain,” will be 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at Barlow Library, on Ohio 339 in Barlow. The show is sponsored by The Friends of Barlow Library. Readers Theatre to form at O’Neill Center — first meeting for this new activity at O’Neill Center will be Monday, July 9 at 1 p.m.

Senior Theatre Play Readers is a way to act without all the stress of memorizing the lines. Your group will choose a play, get the scripts, and then practice reading the play. You will then schedule a “performance” for other seniors. Please call 740-373-3914 for more information and sign up. July 6 is First Friday at Riverside Artists Gallery, 219a Second St., Marietta. Celebrat the artists in thecommunity with the “Create and Donate Community Art Show” from 5 to 9 p.m. Panels created by artists in the community will be on display, and proceeds from each sale will be donated to one of three local nonprofit groups; Building Bridges to Careers, Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, and the Marietta Area Community Food Pantry.
