Kiwanis Club donates $25K to NTC playground project
The Northwest Territory Community (NTC) Playground project is a project that grew out of a significant community need and huge volunteer desire to create a recreational opportunity available for the Marietta community.
Since Marietta is the first settlement in the Northwest Territory, it is only fitting that the area playground exemplify the rich history of this wonderful city. The Marietta Kiwanis Club is leading the collaborative efforts of this $1.5 million project. The project will be an inclusive design for all children and community members. There will be paths and ramps connecting different levels of the park, lighted pathways and courts, a new soccer field with artificial turf, a level basketball court, new tables and benches and age appropriate inclusive equipment.
“This is an exciting time for Marietta to bring the community together. It is a worthwhile, historical project for all our children,” said Marcia Stewart, chairwoman of the Northwest Territory Community Playground Committee and president of the Marietta Kiwanis Club.
The Kiwanis Club of Marietta Ohio donated $25,000 toward this community project. The community playground will be constructed at the current Washington School playground site.
