¯ Officers were dispatched to Marietta Memorial Hospital, 401 Matthew St., on May 29 in reference to a patient there for psychiatric care who had caused damage to hospital property. The man had used the bathroom in the emergency room, climbed into the drop ceiling and left. This case remains under investigation.

¯ Officers were dispatched to Speedway, 100 N. Seventh St., on May 29 in reference to Brandon Gibbs damaging the front door as he exited the store. He was found in the 700 block of Greene Street and will be receiving a summons for criminal damaging and disorderly conduct.

¯ An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of Pike Street on May 30 in reference to a man attacking an elderly man. The older man said he was standing on the corner of Cogswell and Pike panhandling when the other man came up and tried to hit him with a ukulele. The victim said the man was upset because he was begging on “his” corner. Brent A. Smith, homeless, was arrested for attempted assault.

¯ Officers were dispatched to the corner of Lancaster and Fort Harmar Drive on May 30 for a crash with injuries. It was learned that a passenger said he had a needle in his pocket. An officer located the syringe and Casey Taylor, of Stafford, Va., admitted to having used meth with it. A summons is being issued to Taylor for possession of drug abuse instruments.

¯ An officer was dispatched to 226 N. Seventh St. on Thursday in reference to a burglar alarm. A man identified as Orion S. Harris, homeless, was located in the rear of the residence in a detached garage. He was charged with criminal trespass.

¯ Walmart, 804 Pike St., reported a criminal trespass complaint on Thursday. David Burns, homeless, was banned from Walmart property on Feb. 24. He was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.

¯ On Thursday, an officer noticed a male and female arguing in the middle of the KFC parking lot. The vehicle was stopped in the middle of the lot with the doors open and a second male standing near it. One of the men advised the officer he had mushrooms in his front pocket and turned them over for testing.

¯ An officer was dispatched to 501 Third St. on Friday to assist the Marietta Fire Department with a possible drug overdose. Domanick Haught, homeless, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments. A woman was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment resulting from a heroin overdose.

¯ A theft was reported Sunday at Walmart, 804 Pike St. An unknown male and female shoplifted several items. The investigation is ongoing.

¯ John C. Miller, of 726 Lancaster St., reported a burglary on Sunday. A firearm was stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

¯ Walmart reported a theft in progress on Sunday. After an investigation, Andrea Beaver was arrested for theft. She was also charged with obstructing official business after giving officers false information about her identity.

¯ An officer responded to Greene Street near the I-77 overpass on Monday in reference to a man and woman arguing and shoving each other. Jennifer Sturm, of 848 Greene St., Apt. 1, and Joseph Antill, of 709 Phillips St., were separated and both cited for disorderly conduct.

Reports/Washington County

¯ A deputy began an investigation Friday in reference to a federal grant program. The individual(s) portrayed themselves to be a “known friend/associate” of the victim(s). The incidents were in reference to federal grant availability, and the victim(s) being eligible. Subjects wanted victim(s) to pay approximately $3,000 in fees for approximately $60,000 in a grant package. This remains under investigation.

¯ On Friday, a deputy responded to 989 Mitchells Lane, Marietta, to a report that Roger Adams was acting out, destroying property and posing a threat to others. Witnesses had restrained Adams as he was attempting to leave in a vehicle that was unfit for the road and he was intoxicated. Roger Aaron Adams, 34, of 989 Mitchells Lane, Marietta, was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.

¯ Rodney Beebe, of Waterford, reported a trespasser on his property on Saturday. This case remains under investigation.

¯ After a traffic stop Sunday on Ohio 7, Steven Travis Ball, 29, of 550 Null Road, Coolville, was placed under arrest for OVI. Ball was transported to the Washington County Jail where he was charged with OVI and driving under suspension. Ball tested .131 percent BAC.

¯ On Sunday, a deputy, along with the Wesley Volunteer Fire Department, responded to Barlow Township to an ATV accident. This case remains under investigation.

Arrests/Washington County

The following people were recently processed into the Washington County Jail:

¯ Vincent Edward Roberts, 37, of 1920 Roberts Road, Amesville, was arrested for probation violation, a misdemeanor.

¯ Herman James Dalton, 32, of 704 Elm St., Apt. 1, Belpre, was arrested for probation violation, a felony.

¯ David James Smearman III, 31, of 570 Albright Road, Beverly, was arrested for possessing drug abuse instruments, a misdemeanor.
