Income tax office closed for training
The Marietta City Income Tax Office will be closed all day on Thursday for a training.
Breakfast to benefit special needs camp
A pancake breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at K of C Hall on Franklin Street in Marietta. The cost is a donation. Proceeds will go toward Arc Special Needs Camp. Served will be pancakes, sausage, french toast, sausage and gravy and biscuits. There will also be a silent auction.

American Legion hosts fish fry
Beverly American Legion Post 389 will hold an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Fish will be deep fried or baked and meals include fries and cole slaw. The cost is $8. There will be music to follow by Jessica Jo and Justin Z. from 7 to 10 p.m.
Basket Bingo benefits Barlow Christmas
Barlow Area Christmas in the Village will be hosting a Basket Bingo on July 28. Bingo will be held in the lower level of the Barlow Library. Doors open at 11 a.m. and bingo begins at noon. Call Susie at 740-236-3502 to register.
Community lunch planned for July 18
A community luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 18 at Barlow Presbyterian Church.
The menu will be meat loaf, scalloped potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls and desserts. The church is located at Ohio 550 and Warrior Drive in Barlow.
Historical society to hold special meeting
The Washington County Historical Society board of trustees will hold a special meeting on Tuesday for discussion, review and approval of proposed revisions to the organization’s by-laws.
The purpose of these revisions is to bring the organization’s operational rules up to current standards. Members are encouraged to review the information supplied to them with the recently mailed Tallow Light in order to acquaint themselves with the proposed revisions. The special meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Anchorage, 424 George St.
Local police lodge to host pool party
The Fraternal Order of Police Pioneer City Lodge 12 will hold the annual Police/Children’s Pool Party from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 1 at the Marietta Aquatic Center. There will be swimming, inflatables and prizes. To be eligible for prizes children must be between 5 and 11 years old and have a winning ticket. The tickets are free and given out at the Marietta Police Department Dispatch desk, 301 Putnam St., beginning at 9 a.m.July 23. The rain date for the event is Aug. 8. All children are welcome to attend but only those ages 5 to 11 can win prizes.
