Fundraiser for Bethel Community Center
There will be a fundraiser at the Bethel Community Center beginning at 4 p.m., Saturday. There will be a fish fry and chicken served, country store, raffle, auction, movie night and music by Wild Heart and Pickin’ on Country. All proceeds will go toward a new roof for the center.
Pond clinic planned for Sept. 15
The Washington Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting a pond clinic at 10 a.m. Sept. 15 at Buckeye Park in Marietta. Steve Fender of Fender Fish Hatchery will be there to lead the clinic. This question and answer clinic will cover anything pond or lake related: fish stocking, vegetation and varmint control, aeration, pond construction. Bring questions for Fender. Section of Eighth Street to close
East Eighth Street between the back entrance to the Lafayette Shopping Center and the Jefferson Street intersection will be closed between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sept. 11 to allow crews to deliver parts for the Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade.
Board of Elections to hold special meeting
The Washington County Board of Elections will hold a special meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Board of Elections Office. This meeting is for the approval of poll worker selections for the Nov. 6 General Election, polling location changes and Belpre Kroger Liquor Option petition.

MOVP to hold
auditions in Sept.
The Mid-Ohio Valley Players will hold auditions for the youth theater production of “The Little Women of Orchard House,” based on the book by Louisa May Alcott. Auditions are open to any interested youth in grades six through 12. Students outside of these grade levels will not be permitted to audition. Auditions will be at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 23, 24 and 25 at Players Theatre, 229 Putnam St. in Marietta.
