Rings found guilty on one charge, not guilty on another

Washington County Prosecutor Kevin Rings was found guilty of coercion and not guilty of sexual imposition, according to the verdict returned by a jury around 2:30 p.m. today in Washington County Common Pleas Court.

Rings, who testified on Thursday, was accused of coercion and sexual imposition, both misdemeanors. The 56-year-old attorney was charged with coercing Amy Davis, 33, of Belpre, a defendant in a drug case and a victim in another case kidnapping and assault, to have sexual contact with him. He also was accused of kissing and inappropriately touching Davis in his office on July 6, 2017.

Sentencing is 11 a.m. May 16 following a pre-sentence investigation to include victim impact statements.
