Police respond, find no threat at Marietta High School
MARIETTA — Marietta Police are at Marietta High School where a student reported hearing what sounded like a firearm cycling in a student’s bag, the chief of police said.
Chief Rodney Hupp said around noon Wednesday, a student was walking through a stairway and noticed another student hunched over a bag. As they passed by, the student thought they heard the sound of a firearm being cycled through.
The student reported it to the proper personnel and word of it started to spread on social media.
The Marietta Police Department responded and questioned a number of students matching the description, but nothing has been located.
“We have found nothing beyond the initial report,” the chief said.
Hupp said they are maintaining a presence at the school for the rest of the day as a precaution.
