WCCC high school employee promoted

The Washington County Career Center high school promoted an employee within for the 2013-2014 school year. Penny Jenkins was hired recently as the marketing and events coordinator.

Jenkins graduated from the Career Center’s Business program in 1990. She has been employed in the administrative/clerical field for the past 23 years. Jenkins was employed for seven years at Arrow Industries Corporation as an executive secretary and two years as an administrative assistant in the Marietta College Advancement office. She has served as the Career Center public relations/placement assistant for 10 years. Within each of these positions, Jenkins has demonstrated the professional skills and knowledge needed to perform both marketing and events coordination. She has been instrumental in coordinating the yearly planning and running of school activities and events that consist of over 1,600 elementary and high school students visiting the Career Center for recruitment purposes. Jenkins commented, “I am excited to begin the next school year with the highest enrollment of incoming juniors that we’ve had in many years. I am proud to say that we, as a Career Center team, have done an excellent job to step up the recruitment process. It’s an outstanding educational facility and a wonderful place to work.” She further stated, “Career and Technical Education (CTE) is an excellent opportunity for high school students to obtain skills and training that they can use in the workforce as well as to further enhance their post-secondary experience. I encourage all students to explore CTE beginning as early as the eighth-grade level.”

Jenkins resides in Vincent with her husband, Jon, and their sons, Bailey, Wesley, and twins Jonathan “Max”well and William “Drake.”
