Lankford celebrates 30 years at Solvay
Betty Lankford recently completed 30 years of employment with Solvay Specialty Polymers. Lankford joined the Marietta plant in 1983 as a material handler. She lives in Marietta.
Dennison & Assoc. plan community day
Dennison & Associates will be having a community day from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at its office at 900 Front St. in Marietta (across from the fairgrounds).
The official show car of the NASCAR Nationwide series will be there, along with a NASCAR driving simulator, free food and prize giveaways and games. The event is free and open to the public. There will be sign up IPADS to enter a drawing to win a custom golf cart valued at $8,000.

AT&T introduces option for faster phone upgrades
NEW YORK – AT&T is making it easier for customers to upgrade their cellphones more frequently.
AT&T Inc. says it’s introducing an option called AT&T Next on July 26. Instead of paying, for example, $200 up front to buy a smartphone, customers would pay monthly installments of $15 to $50 on top of their service plan, depending on the device.
After a year, customers can trade in their phone and get a new one, paying no upgrade or activation fees. AT&T says a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone would require monthly installments of $32.
Solvay employees reach milestones
Four Solvay Specialty Polymers employees recently completed service anniversaries.
– Eric Hooper recently completed five years of employment with Solvay Specialty Polymers. Hooper joined the Marietta plant in 2008 as a chemical operator and is currently a maintenance foreman. He resides in Belpre with his fiance, Victoria, and son, Hoyt.
– Joshua Wilson recently completed five years of employment with Solvay Specialty Polymers. Wilson joined the Marietta plant in 2008 as a mechanic. He resides in Williamstown.
– Lisa Bates recently completed 20 years of employment with Solvay Specialty Polymers. Bates joined the Marietta plant in 1993 as a clerk and is now an administrative assistant. She resides in Beverly with her daughter, Devin.
– Bill Hurte recently completed 30 years of employment with Solvay Specialty Polymers. Hurte joined the Marietta plant in 1983 as a chemical operator. He resides in Marietta with this wife, Vicki.
Retail marketing firm earns three awards
Stonewall Retail Marketing, a full-service marketing and public relations firm in Marietta, recently earned three awards by the Public Relations Society of America’s – West Virginia Chapter.
The firm’s work for Ohio Valley University’s “Just Imagine” undergraduate admission video, Henderson Hall documentary, and Tucker County CVB’s Ski the Valley website, all earned honors during the Crystal Awards Gala on June 19 in Charleston, W.Va.
Stonewall Retail Marketing PR Director Kari Thompson said, “This particular program is highly competitive and is based on the overall content and design of an entry, as well as results. It is a great honor to be recognized by this organization and our peers.”
Thompsons noted that each Crystal Award winner is submitted to compete in the district awards later this year.
