Evans joins Peoples Bank as trust officer
Peoples Bank announced Matt Evans has joined the bank’s Trust and Investment Services Division as Senior Vice President, Trust Officer.
Evans has more than 23 years of banking and financial expertise. Most recently, he served as senior vice president, director of risk management at Peoples Bank since 2006. Before joining Peoples Bank, Evans worked as an Executive Vice President and Vice President of Risk Management at various financial institutions.
“When Dave Baker announced he would retire from the trust department in December, we knew we needed to have just the right person step into the role,” said Staci Matheney, Peoples Bank Senior Vice President, Trust and Investment Services. “Matt was the perfect candidate. His extensive knowledge and experience in finance, business management, and law – combined with his love for Marietta – was just what we needed. We are delighted to have him join the trust team.”
For the past seven years, Evans’ role at the bank has included internal management – assessing products, processes, and helping the bank strategically plan for the future. In his new role, he works with clients to identify their investment and financial goals. This is accomplished through specific product offering, guidance, and monitoring; while keeping the clients’ best interest in mind.
“While I loved the position I previously held, this is a welcomed change,” said Evans. “Getting back to the customers and working directly with them to help them achieve their financial goals is important to me. It is a unique opportunity to work with my neighbors and friends to build a better future for their families and our community.”
Evans is the son of the late Robert E. Evans, who served as the chairman of the board and chief executive officer at Peoples Bancorp for more than 23 years,
Evans earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Miami University and a Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. He is an active member of the Marietta community, taking part in the Marietta Noon Rotary Club and serving on the Marietta YMCA Board of Directors and Hippodrome Colony Historic Theatre Association.
