O’Neill Center receives grant

Peoples Bancorp Foundation, a nonprofit corporation formed to make donations in Peoples Bank market areas, recently awarded a $1,000 grant to the O’Neill Center.

The funds will be used to acquire resources for seniors, improve and expand the facilities, and improve the ability of the senior center to market its services.

“O’Neill Center helps seniors be HIP – Healthy, Independent, and Productive,” said Ryan J. Welch, Peoples Bank branch manager – Putnam. “We’re pleased to be part of the center’s mission to provide engaging and empowering activities and services for today’s seniors.”

O’Neill Center is a nationally accredited senior center located in Washington County. The center offers a number of classes, trips, and other activities for seniors. In addition, it provides needed assistance with household chores, transportation, care during the day, and more.

Peoples Bancorp Foundation focuses on charitable giving in four major areas: community investment and economic development, youth and education, human services programs that improve the social needs of low- to moderate-income communities and individuals, and the arts and cultures.
