Orthodontist offers two women free braces

PARKERSBURG – Smith Orthodontics is giving back to the community by providing free braces to two lucky women – Bobbie Mendenhall of Newport and Sarah Gant from Williamstown.

Dr. Amy Smith, owner of Smith Orthodontics in Parkersburg, says, “I love doing my part in the community, putting smiles on my patients’ faces and being a partner in education with Parkersburg Catholic Elementary School. Giving away orthodontic treatment is the perfect blend of community and professional service for me.”

When Ms. Mendenhall got the call that she had won, she thought it was a scam because it seemed too good to be true. “I am a mother of three children and an Intervention Specialist,” she says. “I volunteer at my church and live my life to help others. I’ve wanted braces to fix the gap in my front teeth ever since I can remember. My parents were owners of a small business and insurance wasn’t an option. As an adult I thought I could finally get treatment, but my insurance doesn’t cover adults. So winning free braces means doing something for myself that I would have never done.”

Ms. Gant shares a similar sentiment, “Receiving free braces means the world to me. I can not thank Dr. Amy and the staff enough. I have always wanted braces but my family could never afford them. I’m over-the-moon excited about my smile.”

Both women have started treatment and are enjoying working with Dr. Smith and her team. “The staff is super friendly and make you feel at ease,” says Sarah.

Bobbie agrees. “The staff are so comforting and kind. Dr. Amy is just so positive and sincere. They got me in quickly and really do a nice job of making sure you understand everything so you can feel confident about what’s going on.”
